On July 8th, our CEO, Nobuhiko Horie (pictured right), was invited to the international conference exchange meeting hosted by the Asian Development Bank, which was held at Kumamoto Castle Hall in Kumamoto City, Kumamoto Prefecture, and which included ASEAN+3 (the +3 being Japan, China, and South Korea). He gave a speech entitled "How does manga connect the world?"
This exchange event will be held at Kumamoto Gakuen University from July 8th to 12th.40th ASEAN+3 Bond Market Forum(ABMF)※In addition to participants from the "Kumamoto Economic and Financial Institutions Forum" (hosted by the Asian Development Bank), Kumamoto's economic and financial sector, researchers, students, and government officials also attended. The purpose of the forum was to strengthen mutual networks and share knowledge and information.
At the event, Horie spoke about Coremix's efforts to develop a global manga culture, including its artist training program to nurture young people from around the world and its manga award that accepts submissions from all over the world.
After the lecture, the venue was filled with excitement as the 096k Kumamoto Opera Company performed a play based on a Core Mix work.
At the subsequent social gathering, a booth was set up to introduce Coremix, where many visitors were seen stopping to take a look at Coremix's work, including its Kyushu International Manga Award and other initiatives, as well as comics translated for various countries.
※About ABMF: The ABMF was established as a subordinate review body of Task Force 3, which deals with regulatory frameworks within the Asian Bond Markets Initiative (ABFI), to promote the development of ASEAN+3 bond markets and investment of dormant savings in Asian countries.
