Golem, the god of the forest, and Somali, a human girl, have a mysterious encounter in the forest. Somali calls the golem "dad," and from that day on, the journey of parent and child begins. Golem devotes all of his remaining time to Somali, who innocently adores him as a father, and searches for Somali's parents. The bond between father and daughter deepens during the journey, young Somali grows up, and the golem, which is supposed to have no emotions, becomes a "parent". Many readers have expressed sympathy and emotion at the new love between parent and child depicted in a fantasy world. The anime "Somali and the Forest God" stars Inori Minase (Somali) and Daisuke Ono (Golem), and is directed by Kenji Yasuda, who also directed "Macross △" and "Hakata Tonkotsu Ramens".
