≪Performer comments≫

Shuichiro Naito (role of Keito Kaname)

My name is Shuichiro Naito and I will be playing Keito Kaname. This is my first time taking on the role of a teacher.
In my own way, I played the role in a way that was kind to Nagisa and the other students, and at times strong. I have clearly conveyed the feelings that I have always wanted to convey to Mr. Morikawa.
I hope you enjoy watching Kaname's hard work.

Rikako Sakata (as Kiyoka Niijima)

When I read the original story, I was so fascinated by how the relationship between Ai and Nagisa would develop that I read it all at once.
Is it a romantic feeling, a protective love, or a relationship that is less than romantic?
Isn't it a love story or something? It seems like it applies to all of them, and it doesn't seem to apply to any of them. But my heart tightened and I encountered a new feeling that I can't describe.
The empathy towards Ai, Nagisa's cuteness and the subtleties of her heart make this drama a must-see. I play the role of Kiyoka, Ai's best friend.
I'm good friends with Ren Ishikawa, who plays Ai, but this is my first time acting in a play. Ai and Kiyoka have things in common: they love their work, they can talk about anything, and they're the same age.
Therefore, I hope that I can create a good atmosphere between the two of us while still feeling nervous.
Filming started the other day, and I will continue to work hard with the staff and cast to create a wonderful work. Look forward to the broadcast!

Akira Onodera (as Shuhei Arima)

On the day of crank-in, when I met Jun Saito, who plays Nagisa,
I remember thinking, "What a child with such innocent energy...!!!"
When he's acting, Jun-kun has a serious expression and is considerate of those around him, and despite his solid demeanor, there are moments when I feel like he's cute and life-sized. I did. I think that while acting with him, I was also inspired to create Shuhei.
I'm working hard to keep up with the youth around me in the late summer heat, so please look forward to it!

Mizuki Morisaki (as Kokoro Shida)

This will be my first time appearing in a drama series, so I was very happy when I was selected.
When I read the original story, I found Nagisa-kun to be very pure and neat, as he follows his own feelings and sometimes acts like a cat, surprising everyone around him.
Kokoro Shida, who I play this time, and I have something in common.
When I was little, I was not good at expressing myself through words, so I drew a lot of pictures every day. It seems that my mother often learned about my feelings through those pictures.
So I can understand Kokoro-chan's feelings, as she has been drawing pictures of the world she wanted to see since she was little.
I want to play Kokoro-chan, who traps her unrequited love in a painting, in a way that everyone can empathize with.
Each of the characters feels lonely, but this changes when they meet friends who sympathize with them. I think it will warm your heart on Saturday night, so please take a look!

Hina Takegami (as Karen Suzumura)

I had read the original work and loved Karen very much, so when I heard about the audition, I was so happy and practiced over and over again.
It was my first time appearing in a drama series, so I was very excited on the first day of filming, but I was very impressed by Director Saeki and others.
All my co-stars and staff were very kind and warm, and I was able to act calmly, which made me very happy. Karen is a very pure girl who is honest with her heart.
I would be happy if I could convey the cute side of Karen-chan!

The theme song is ``hands'' by Manami Noda, who is attracting attention with her unique singing voice!

The theme song was performed by singer-songwriter Manami Noda. A number of cover videos posted on YouTube during the coronavirus pandemic in 2020 attracted attention, and the number of YouTube subscribers currently exceeds 200,000, with a total of approximately 50 million views. "Hands", which was written especially for this work, is a song that uses Manami Noda's unique singing ability to express the lyrics that are reminiscent of Ai and Nagisa supporting each other.

[Comment from Manami Noda]

Thank you for choosing us as the ending theme for the drama "Neko Kare - Keeping a Boy".
I admire the character of the main character, Ai Morikawa, who is the same age as me, and how she is always strong, and I empathize with the loneliness and loneliness that comes with that.
Ta. At this age, people expect you to be independent and strong. Yet, on the other hand, she is ridiculed as ``not cute,'' and I respect her for fighting against such unreasonableness.
Before you know it, Nagisa's own pace becomes comfortable, and it becomes a place to return to, and the two of them also understand Nagisa's loneliness and sympathize with each other.
I wrote "hands" with the theme of relationships. I would be happy if this song could gently reach out to the hearts of the characters in the drama, or someone who is feeling lonely.

The theme song, Manami Noda's "hands" (avex trax), will be distributed on various music distribution services from October 18th (Wednesday)!
