Takahashi Hikaru, Kimura Keito, Nishigaki Takumi and Takano Akira come together to reveal behind-the-scenes stories from the filming!!
Yoshikazu's popular comic "Smearing Mud on My Face" (Zenon Comics/Core Mix), which caused a big stir on social media, has been adapted into a drama starring Takahashi Hikaru! The protagonist, Yuhara Miku (Takahashi Hikaru), who begins to take a step forward after meeting Takakura Eve (Kimura Keito), a makeup-wearing boy, by fate, and receiving makeup from him, confronts her boyfriend, Yuki Yuku = Haru (Nishigaki Takumi), who has transformed into a moral harasser, and changes her life with the power of makeup - a "life-changing love story."
With the premiere airing on Saturday, July 13th, the main cast, including the star Takahashi, Kimura, Nishigaki, and Takano Akira, who plays the mysterious elite lawyer Onitake Shuma, gathered together! They talked at length about their thoughts on the series and behind-the-scenes stories from the filming.
■ Takahashi Hikaru already feels at ease in this good team, saying, "The atmosphere is very good."
However, everyone is frightened by Nishigaki Takumi's sharp, sharp eyes!
The interview, with the four of them of the same generation gathered, started off in a friendly atmosphere. However, Takahashi revealed a surprising side of them, saying, "None of us are very talkative, so no one talks in the makeup room." But in fact, this is proof of their friendship, as Takahashi said, "We have a good sense of distance between us, and we have a good balance between talking a lot when we need to talk and being quiet when we need to. It's a great atmosphere where you don't have to force yourself." It seems that they have already become friends and can spend time together without feeling tense. On the other hand, the story is tense as Takahashi's Miku, who changes as a result of makeup, is at the mercy of Nishigaki's Haru's emotional abuse. When the topic turned to the fact that the first episode will feature a scene in which cleansing oil is poured over the skin, Takahashi said, "That's not the only scary scene. Nishigaki's eyes are so sharp you wouldn't expect that from his fresh looks! The director and some of us call him 'Pakipakigaki' because his eyes are so bright (laughs)." He then revealed his true feelings, saying, "I couldn't like him at first!" Upon hearing this, Nishigaki tried to explain himself, saying, "It just hurt my heart. I'm sorry, I thought you were Hikaru-chan," but Takahashi immediately retorted, "That's a lie! I said I was looking forward to it (laughs)." Furthermore, Kimura also said, "His eyes were so open I wondered when he would blink, and it was scary," in the scene where he confronted Nishigaki, and it seems he's scared all of his co-stars!?
■ Takahashi also gives his stamp of approval to Kimura Keito's cross-dressing look, praising himself by saying, "It's cute (lol)!"
In this film, Miku, who has low self-esteem and is concerned about others, takes a step forward after meeting Eve, who enjoys freely wearing makeup and clothes according to "who she wants to be that day." Kimura, who plays Eve, also tries cross-dressing, and her appearance will be revealed in the first episode airing tonight. Takahashi, who saw Kimura in drag for the first time during the visual shoot, said, "Ugh, I lost!" and gave his stamp of approval, saying, "She's really beautiful, and I want everyone to see her as soon as possible!" Takano also met Kimura before co-starring in this film, but when he saw Kimura in drag, he said, "I forgot my impression of her in an instant and just went there like, 'Nice to meet you' (laughs)." He seemed overwhelmed by her completely different appearance. Meanwhile, Nishigaki has not yet seen her in drag, and said, "As a viewer, I'm really looking forward to seeing how cute she is!" Kimura herself, who received such praise from everyone, praised herself, saying, "She's cute (laughs)," and revealed, "She looks like her mother." In fact, Kimura has previously appeared in drag as a character named "Keiko-chan" at live shows for his group FANTASTICS, but when he showed his drag costume in this film to the other members of the group, they were enthusiastic, saying, "Beautiful! You look like a different person (from Keiko-chan). Just having professional makeup techniques can make such a difference!"
■Makeup supervisor Idegami Baku judges the cast's beauty routines! The results are surprising...!?
The person who supervised Kimura's cross-dressing and makeup for this film is genderless model Idegami Baku, who has a first-class international makeup artist certification. He actually rushed to the press conference. There, the cast members showed off their usual beauty routines and asked if they were OK or not. Idegami judged them in the "Tell me! Baku-san! Beauty Good or Bad Judgment"! And then... something unexpected happened!? Takano, who was first up to the stage, revealed that "I wash my face with foam for just over a second and then rinse it off in the shower." The cast members commented, "That was quick!" at how quickly he did it, but Idegami's verdict was a "good"! In fact, Takano's face washing method is "a way to wash your face without drying it out," and everyone was surprised by the unexpected result. But from here on out, there was even more shock! Nishigaki, who does strength training about twice a week, said, "After training, I eat a lot of convenience store bento boxes to get plenty of protein and carbohydrates," and waited for the verdict, unsure, asking, "Should I stop?"... but the verdict was "X." Kimura's "After washing my hair, I leave it for a bit before drying it" also got an "X"! At the end, Takahashi asked, "I get swelling easily, so I bought a pressure point tool and I'm sticking it in, is that wrong?" but unfortunately the verdict was "X"! Surprisingly, it turns out that everyone's beauty methods except Takano's are not desirable! However, Idegami said, "I want a △," and carefully explained the bad points of each beauty method and advice on how to improve them. Kimura said, "I'll dry it right away!" and Takahashi replied, "I'll stop (pressing pressure points) right away!" and everyone was in agreement.
While Takahashi and his teammates' amazing comebacks are revealed, Takano Akira is sadly "reversed"!?
In addition, in keeping with the title of "A Love Story That Turns Lives Around," the cast members will also share their "turnarounds" in their lives! Takahashi said that he had struggled during the open audition that led him to enter the entertainment industry, but shared a wonderful story of how he turned things around, saying, "When I think about how I've come to this point, being able to appear in productions like this and working with all kinds of people, I feel glad that I worked so hard!" Next up, Kimura also said that he once failed the final round of an audition to go overseas and experienced setbacks, but said with strength, "I'm really glad that I was able to work hard and become part of FANTASTICS." Nishigaki, who has also represented Japan in fencing, shared the satisfying story of how he turned things around when he "turned things around and won" a national fencing championship during his student days, eliciting shouts of "Amazing!" from the audience. As the stories of these amazing comebacks were told one after another, Takano began to recount his glory days in running races and marathons from kindergarten and elementary school, saying, "I've come in first place a lot of times too...". However, he unexpectedly ended up "being overtaken by people playing sports after I was in the fourth grade", which sent Takahashi, the cast members, and the entire audience into fits of laughter.
The interview was held in a relaxed atmosphere, with laughter throughout, and the friendship between Takahashi and the other cast members was clear, building expectations for the story these four will weave together. At the end, Takahashi passionately stated, "I believe this work will reach people who will find something that will make their lives more enjoyable and brighten their days," and "Throwing Mud in the Face" finally begins airing tonight! Please look forward to it.
