The animation production division of Warner Bros. Japan, LLC (President and Japan Representative: Masami Takahashi, Minato-ku, Tokyo) has announced the following new information.
"Fist of the North Star" is a monumental action manga with a total circulation of over 100 million copies. The series first began serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1983, and the TV anime version began airing in 1984, achieving a peak audience rating of 23.4%, becoming an instant social phenomenon. It has since been loved by many fans around the world through various media developments up to the present day. It has been decided that "Fist of the North Star" will be made into a new anime series today, September 13th, "Fist of the North Star Day," to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the original work. We are pleased to announce the teaser key visual for the new animation and a comment from the original author.

In this project, the world of "Fist of the North Star" created by Buronson and Tetsuo Hara will be faithfully visualized with a new staff and cast and the latest video technology, capturing all the charm of the original work!

story
In the year 199X, the world was engulfed in nuclear flames.
The seas dried up, the earth split open, and it seemed as if all life had been wiped out... but humanity had not perished!!
However, this is a crazy world ruled by violence. The survivors are divided into the strong who continue to plunder and kill, and the weak who are cruelly hurt.
When the weak are on the brink of despair and about to give up hope, a man dressed in rags appears. The man with seven scars on his chest is none other than Kenshiro, the heir to the Hokuto Shinken. The legend of the end-of-the-century savior is about to begin.

In fact, 40 years ago, I thought that manga and anime were different things, so I kept a little distance between them.

When the series was first published, I was in my 20s and never dreamed that the day would come when "Fist of the North Star" would celebrate its 40th anniversary and that I would be rewarded with a completely new anime.
I am pleased to hear that the voice actors are currently reading the original work carefully, listening to the voices of the characters, and imagining how to act for each one.
I'm really looking forward to seeing how this picture, drawn with so much feeling 40 years ago, will come to life in the hands of the production staff, who are filled with love for the original work!
