"JAPAN EXPO" is one of the largest festivals of Japanese culture in Europe, which attracted 250,000 visitors in France last year. This year, it will be held in the north of Paris from July 13th (Thurs) to 16th (Sun).
The 096k Kumamoto Opera Company, a theater troupe run by manga publisher Core Mix, will be making their first appearance at this major event that brings together manga fans from overseas. In addition to two performances on the venue's main stage (ICHIGO STAGE), they will also perform sword fighting, Japanese drumming, and singing twice on the Japanese culture performance stage (SAKURA STAGE).
About the "096k Kumamoto Opera Company" and the program for their Paris performance
The 096k Kumamoto Opera Company is an all-female theater company based in Aso, Kumamoto. It was founded in 2020. The Paris performance will feature "Maeda Keiji Kabuki Journey - The Tiger of Higo, Kato Kiyomasa", based on the popular manga serialized in the monthly Comic Zenon magazine. The period piece, which the women have been refining since the company was founded, will feature an exciting and glamorous performance with sword fighting, Japanese drums, and group dancing. This is a Sengoku picture scroll (originally written by Hara Tetsuo and Horie Nobuhiko) depicting the exploits of the kabuki master Maeda Keiji after the Battle of Sekigahara. It is currently being serialized in the popular monthly Comic Zenon. Twelve volumes of the comic have been published (the book cover is from the French version).
