The 4th Kumamoto International Manga Festival will be held in July!

The 4th Kumamoto International Manga Festival will be held for two days, from July 13th (Tue) to 14th (Wed), at the Kumamoto Civic Hall. There are four things to see at this festival.

1. International Yokai Exhibition

Folklore about monsters, monsters, and fairies exists all over the world and has been passed down for generations. Kumamoto is known around the world as a place with many monsters, and it has attracted attention from all over the world along with the abundant nature and mystical places that Kumamoto boasts. In response to this, we solicited silent manga that depict the connection between people and legendary creatures from all over the world, and received 390 works from 65 countries and regions.

2. Exhibition of top-ranking works from the "Core Mix Kyushu Manga Award"

We will be exhibiting the top works from the 3rd and 4th Coremix Kyushu Manga Awards, organized by Coremix Manga Lab in Kumamoto City, which opened in October 2018! Please enjoy the high-quality works submitted by talented authors living in Kyushu!

3. Special exhibition of "Maeda Keiji"

There will be an exhibition related to "Hana no Keiji - Beyond the Clouds," which celebrated its 30th anniversary last year, and "Maeda Keiji Kabuki Journey," which is currently being serialized to great acclaim! You can see reproductions of original drawings and products made in collaboration to celebrate the 30th anniversary. A life-size figure of Maeda Keiji awaits you at the entrance!

4,096k Kumamoto Opera Company Opening Event

The all-female performer "096k (O'Clock) Kumamoto Opera Company" has been launched, and will be showcasing a diverse program of plays based on the manga "Maeda Keiji Kabuki Journey" (original story by Hara Tetsuo and Horie Nobuhiko, art by Deguchi Masato), titled "Maeda Keiji Kabuki Journey - The Tiger of Higo, Kato Kiyomasa - Edition"!
